The William F. Podlich Fellowship on Democracy offers support to incoming graduate students who participate in the Center's graduate training program on democracy. These fellowships provide first-year stipends and/or fees for students who enter the Ph.D. program in political science at UC Irvine. The fellowship is a gift to the Center from William F. Podlich, a nationally respected finance expert and one of the co-founders of Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) in Newport Beach. The Podlich Fellowship translates his interest and involvement in American politics into direct support for students who will study the foundations of democracy in their research and graduate studies. Podlich also is a recipient of the UCI Medal and a member of the UCI Foundation.
