Dana Moss received the A. Kimball Romney Award for Outstanding Graduate Research Paper and she was awarded a Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant from the National Science Foundation in the amount of $11,322. The funding is supporting Moss' research on the role that diasporas played in the "Arab Spring" revolutions of 2011, specifically the movements of Libyan, Yemeni and Syrian diasporas in the U.S. and Great Britain.
Katja Newman served on the OAS Election Observation Mission to the Presidential Elections in Columbia summer 2014.

Vahid Niayesh was awarded a $6600 training grant to cover the entire cost for the IGCC nuclear boot camp program at UCSD. He also received the Global Connect Educational Partnership Award 2014, the Academic Advisor for GlobalScope Curriculum Guide-The Middle East: Arab Spring 2010-2014, and the Outstanding Academic Presenter Award for presenting on "Democratic Aspiration vs. Democratic Values" at Mission Viejo, El Toro, and Laguna Hills High Schools.
